Bridport, VT (December 26, 2024) – A tragic vehicle crash on VT Route 22A near Carrs Lane claimed the lives of two individuals on Monday morning. The Vermont State Police responded to the scene at approximately 11:27 a.m. following reports of a vehicle collision resulting in fatalities.
According to initial investigations, a 2015 Chevy Impala was traveling south on VT Route 22A when it gradually left the southbound lane, striking a telephone pole before overturning and coming to rest upside-down. The driver, 78-year-old Mark Axelrod, and his passenger, 76-year-old Francine Axelrod, both from River Edge, NJ, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Both individuals were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
