Winston-Salem, NC (December 26, 2024) – A pedestrian was tragically killed late Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run accident on Stanleyville Rd. According to the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD), the incident occurred around 10:41 PM in the 5700 block of the roadway.
Officers responded to a passerby’s report and discovered 49-year-old Dedrick Denorris Gaston of Rural Hall deceased in the roadway. Investigators believe Gaston was struck by a vehicle while walking along the street. Unfortunately, no cars involved in the accident were present at the scene when officers arrived.
The WSPD Traffic Enforcement Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities have notified Gaston’s next of kin of his passing. No further details about the driver or vehicle responsible have been released at this time.
