Menomonie, WI (December 25, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle crash in Menomonie early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 56-year-old Eau Claire man and left multiple others injured. The collision occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 12 and County Highway E.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, responding troopers found an overturned car with the Eau Claire man inside. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
The second vehicle, an SUV, was carrying the driver and three passengers. A 30-year-old female from Eau Claire sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care. The other two passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 40-year-old Mark Sokolowski, was arrested at the scene. He faces charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
