Wildlife Hazards on California Roads
Highway accidents involving wildlife, such as the one on SR-17, are not uncommon in California, particularly in areas near wooded or rural regions. Deer and other animals can enter roadways unexpectedly, creating hazardous conditions for drivers.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), wildlife-related collisions peak during dawn and dusk when visibility is lower, and animals are more active. Drivers are advised to stay vigilant, use high beams when appropriate, and reduce speed in areas with frequent wildlife crossings.
In the aftermath of accidents like this, affected individuals may face property damage, medical expenses, or other challenges. Understanding legal options can help cover these costs and provide support for recovery.
