Spout Springs, NC (December 24, 2024) – A Spout Springs firefighter was injured and trapped after a crash involving a fire truck while responding to a brush fire on Monday afternoon, officials confirmed. The incident occurred at the intersection of Delaware Ln and NC 24, just west of NC 87.
The fire truck, a Spout Springs Fire brush vehicle, was en route to a brush fire reported at 3:21 p.m. on Cameron Hill Rd. with lights and sirens activated. At approximately 3:29 p.m., another vehicle collided with the fire truck, causing it to roll over and trap the driver inside.
Rescue crews quickly responded and extricated the firefighter from the overturned vehicle. The injured firefighter was airlifted to a hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition as of Monday night, according to Spout Springs Emergency Services.
