Pedestrian Accidents in New York
Pedestrian accidents in New York City highlight the dangers of roadway interactions, particularly on high-traffic routes like the Clearview Expressway. Accidents involving pedestrians often occur in situations where vehicles are stopped or maneuvering, such as during minor collisions or while vehicles are parked on ramps or shoulders.
Statewide data shows an alarming number of pedestrian-related accidents, especially in urban areas like Queens. Factors such as driver inattention, weather conditions, and limited visibility often contribute to these incidents. The unique challenges of busy expressway ramps, including high speeds and unexpected stops, increase the risks for individuals who exit their vehicles.
Drivers and pedestrians alike should exercise extreme caution on expressway ramps. Motorists should reduce speed and stay alert for individuals on the road, while pedestrians should avoid exiting their vehicles whenever possible in high-traffic zones.
