Johnson County, MO (December 23, 2024) – A serious two-vehicle crash occurred on eastbound US-50 at MO-AA just after noon on Monday. The accident, reported at approximately 12:09 PM, involved a 2007 Ford Fusion and a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash took place when the Ford Fusion, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of US-50, attempted to execute a U-turn in the median. During the maneuver, the Ford Fusion collided with the driver’s side of the Chevrolet Silverado. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by local towing services.
The driver of the Ford Fusion, a 72-year-old male from Colony, KS, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Johnson County Ambulance to Western Missouri Medical Center. A 4-year-old male passenger in the Ford Fusion suffered injuries and was also taken to the same medical center for treatment. The Chevrolet Silverado was operated by a 24-year-old male from Otterville, MO, who was reportedly unharmed and using a safety device at the time of the collision.
Emergency responders, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, Johnson County Fire, and the Johnson County Ambulance District, assisted at the scene alongside Trooper S.L. Edwards and Corporal K.M. Hoover. The crash remains under investigation.
