Weslaco, TX (December 23, 2024) – A tragic car crash early Sunday morning on Goolie Rd, north of El Dora Rd in Donna, left one person dead and two others critically injured. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating the incident.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:59 a.m. when a 2017 gray GMC Acadia, occupied by two male and one female passenger, was traveling northbound on Goolie Rd at a high rate of speed. According to DPS, the vehicle veered off the road to the east, rolled over, and ejected two passengers. Investigators confirmed that none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders transported all three occupants to a local hospital in critical condition. Tragically, one of the passengers, 27-year-old Luis Orlando Martinez, a Weslaco resident, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
