Tallahassee, FL (December 23, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Thomasville Rd near Royal Oaks Dr claimed the life of an adult male and caused significant traffic disruptions in northeast Tallahassee on Sunday afternoon. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assist those involved and manage the chaotic traffic conditions.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m., according to the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD). A sports car and a large Goodwill truck were identified as the primary vehicles involved in the crash. Witnesses reported seeing a heavily damaged sports car in the center lane, while a tow truck worked to remove the Goodwill truck from the southbound lane.
The Florida Highway Patrol classified the crash as a “major incident,” prompting the closure of northbound lanes on U.S. 319 near Royal Oaks Dr at 2:30 p.m. While the northbound lanes reopened at 3:30 p.m., southbound lanes remained closed until 4 p.m., further exacerbating traffic in the area.
Sadly, one male occupant succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to a statement by TPD. No additional injuries have been reported at this time. TPD’s Traffic Homicide detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
