Beaufort County, NC (December 23, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Goose Creek Rd and US 264 in Washington claimed the life of one person and left two others injured on Saturday afternoon.
According to Communications Director Brandon Tester, first responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:50 p.m. The NC Highway Patrol is leading an investigation into the cause of the accident, which remains unknown at this time.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to ECU Health in Greenville for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital, though their current condition is unclear.
The identities of those involved have not been released pending notification of their next of kin.
Multiple agencies, including the Bath Fire Department, Bunyan Fire Department, and NC State Highway Patrol, responded to the incident.
