New Port Richey, FL (December 21, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision caused significant traffic disruptions on State Road 54 Friday afternoon, leaving both drivers injured. The crash occurred around 1:45 PM on December 21 and involved a Chevy Impala and a Ford bucket truck.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 68-year-old New Port Richey woman was driving her Chevy Impala southbound on Cita Ln when she attempted to cross SR-54. Her vehicle traveled over a raised concrete median and collided with a Ford bucket truck driven by a 29-year-old Hudson man traveling eastbound on SR-54.
The force of the impact caused the Ford bucket truck to overturn, blocking both eastbound and westbound lanes of SR-54. Emergency responders quickly arrived to treat the injured and manage the traffic flow. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
The crash led to significant delays as authorities worked to clear the roadway and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their swift recovery.
