Doswell, VA (December 19, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle crash on Washington Hwy between Route 30 and Doswell Rd claimed the life of a 61-year-old man on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 7:40 AM, prompting a response from Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and Hanover Fire and EMS.
Michael Purtell, of Spotsylvania County, was driving a 2010 Honda Civic southbound when the vehicle reportedly crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2018 Ford F-450. Unfortunately, Purtell was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. The driver and a passenger of the Ford F-450 were transported to VCU Medical Center with minor injuries.
