Davenport, IA (December 19, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision on East River Dr between Davenport and Bettendorf claimed the life of one individual late Tuesday night. The accident occurred near Forest Rd at approximately 11:12 p.m., according to local authorities.
Police reported that a Kia Soul traveling eastbound lost control and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Trailblazer. The driver of the Kia Soul, a 30-year-old man who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The identities of the drivers have not been released as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Davenport Fire and Emergency Services provided assistance at the scene.
East River Dr was temporarily blocked to allow responders to manage the incident and clear the roadway. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the crash to come forward as their investigation remains ongoing.
