Denton, TX (December 19, 2024) – A tragic house fire in Denton late Wednesday night left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to the City of Denton Fire Department. The two-alarm blaze broke out around 11:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Houston Place, near the University of North Texas.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the front of the home and two people trapped inside. Crews worked quickly to rescue two victims and searched for a third individual who was reported to be in the house. One victim was found in critical condition and was flown to a burn center.
Denton FD spokesperson David Boots confirmed that an elderly man succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning. An elderly woman remains hospitalized, but her current condition has not been disclosed. No information has been released about the third person initially reported to be inside the home.
