Louisville, KY (December 18, 2024) – A tragic crash on Dixie Highway claimed the life of a pedestrian in a wheelchair Tuesday evening. Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers responded to the intersection of Dixie Highway and Stonegate Manor Drive around 6:20 PM.
According to police, a man in a wheelchair was struck by a vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts by medics, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on-site and cooperated with investigators. Authorities have indicated that no charges are expected at this time.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash. The section of Dixie Highway was briefly closed but has since reopened.
This fatal incident occurred just 20 minutes after a separate collision further north on Dixie Highway left a motorcyclist critically injured.
