Egg Harbor Township, NJ (December 18, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision caused by an alleged impaired, wrong-way driver claimed the life of a Somers Point man and left multiple individuals injured on Monday night. The crash occurred around 9:03 p.m. on Blackman Road, between Brookside Drive and Meadow Drive.
Authorities report that 38-year-old Oriel Dixon, of Egg Harbor Township, was driving a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer northbound on Blackman Road when she allegedly crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic. Her vehicle struck a 2015 Honda CRV occupied by 72-year-old Joseph Natale and a 28-year-old passenger.
Natale was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The passenger in his vehicle was hospitalized with injuries, the extent of which remains unknown. Dixon, who had a juvenile in her vehicle, was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Both Dixon and the juvenile received medical attention.
Dixon was arrested for driving while impaired, and authorities indicated that additional charges might follow as the investigation continues.
