Buffalo, MO (December 17, 2024) – Two drivers sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning on US 65, approximately one mile south of Buffalo in Dallas County. The crash occurred at 2:10 a.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2012 GMC Acadia, driven by a 58-year-old female from Springfield, MO, failed to yield and was struck by a 2017 Nissan Rogue, driven by a 61-year-old female from Elkland, MO. The force of the collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles, and they were towed from the scene by Wade’s Towing of Elkland.
Both drivers were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash, which may have mitigated the severity of their injuries. They were transported to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar for treatment of moderate injuries.
The incident is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, led by MSgt. R.W. Schafer.
Our thoughts are with both individuals involved, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Failure-to-Yield Crashes in Missouri
Crashes caused by failure to yield are common on highways like US 65, particularly during low-visibility hours, such as early mornings. When one vehicle fails to yield, the resulting collision can lead to severe injuries and significant vehicle damage, as seen in this incident.
Failure-to-yield accidents often occur at intersections, private drives, or merging lanes, where drivers misjudge the timing or fail to recognize oncoming traffic. Wearing seatbelts, as both drivers did in this case, significantly reduces the risk of fatal injuries during such collisions.
Victims of failure-to-yield crashes often face physical injuries, emotional distress, and financial burdens, such as medical bills and vehicle repair costs. Understanding legal rights and seeking compensation can be essential for recovery.
If you or someone you know has been injured in a failure-to-yield accident, seeking professional guidance can help ensure the appropriate support and resources are secured.
