Nashville, TN (December 17, 2024) – A hit-and-run crash in East Nashville critically injured a pedestrian on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Porter Road, near Berkshire Place Apartments.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the driver, 54-year-old Michael D. Williams, was turning left onto Porter Road in a Nissan Armada when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The SUV rotated 180 degrees and jumped onto the sidewalk, striking a 54-year-old Nashville man who was walking there. The force of the impact threw the pedestrian into the roadway.
Williams allegedly fled the scene after the crash but was later apprehended. He faces several charges, including vehicular assault by recklessness, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, and driving on a revoked license.
The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries, and his condition is currently unknown.
