Hydroplaning and Wet Roadway Safety
Hydroplaning accidents, like this devastating collision on U.S. 91, occur when vehicles lose traction on wet roads, leading to a loss of control. Such incidents are particularly common during rainy or snowy weather when water accumulates on highways.
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) recommends the following safety tips to reduce the risk of hydroplaning:
- Reduce speeds during wet conditions, especially on highways.
- Ensure tires are properly maintained with sufficient tread.
- Avoid sudden braking or steering to maintain control.
For families and victims involved in serious accidents, seeking medical care, emotional support, and professional guidance is essential in navigating the aftermath of such tragedies.
