Diamond Lake Township, MN (December 16, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Northbound Highway 75 and Westbound County Road 13 in Diamond Lake Township, Lincoln County. The crash, reported at approximately 8:03 p.m., involved a 2015 GMC Yukon and a 2014 GMC Acadia and resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the GMC Yukon, driven by Jarod Kerwin Murray, 35, of Arlington, SD, was traveling northbound on Highway 75, while the GMC Acadia, driven by Kristine Ann Notch, 47, of Clarksfield, MN, was traveling westbound on County Road 13. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Road conditions were reported as wet at the time of the crash.
Kristine Ann Notch and her passenger, Aliyah Marie Cochrane, 20, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Tyler Hospital for further medical evaluation. Neither was reported to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Occupants of the GMC Yukon, including the driver Jarod Murray, passengers Danielle Marie Murray, 35, and two juveniles aged 6 and 8, reported no injuries. Danielle Murray was noted to have been unrestrained during the incident, but airbags deployed in both vehicles, potentially mitigating more severe injuries.

Emergency response teams, including the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Benton Fire Department, Tyler Ambulance, and Lake Benton First Responders, assisted at the scene. The intersection was temporarily closed as crews managed the aftermath and conducted an investigation into the crash.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the collision, including examining contributing factors such as the road conditions and adherence to traffic regulations.

Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.

Intersection Safety in Minnesota

Intersections, especially those connecting highways and rural roads, are frequent sites of collisions in Minnesota. Contributing factors often include failure to yield, poor visibility, and adverse road conditions. Crashes at such intersections can lead to severe injuries, property damage, and delays.

Minnesota continues to focus on improving intersection safety through better signage, road maintenance, and public awareness campaigns. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution, especially in wet or hazardous conditions, and to always use seat belts to reduce the risk of injury.

For those injured in vehicle collisions, seeking immediate medical care, reporting the incident to law enforcement, and documenting the scene are critical steps. Consulting with legal professionals can also help victims recover compensation for medical expenses and other damages.
