Jefferson County, MO (December 13, 2024) – A fatal crash occurred early Thursday morning on Northbound Old MO-21, north of Konert Road, in Jefferson County. The accident took place at approximately 3:05 AM, when a 2007 Ford Escape, driven by a 22-year-old female from Hillsboro, MO, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.
The vehicle traveled off the road, striking a raised curb before continuing into the median, where it collided with stationary construction machinery. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the driver was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital – South at 3:59 AM. She was transported by Rock Township Ambulance District following the crash.
In addition to the driver, a 25-year-old female occupant from Irondale, MO, was also injured in the crash. She suffered moderate injuries but was wearing a safety device (seatbelt) and was transported to Mercy Hospital – South for medical treatment.
The vehicle was towed to Miner’s Towing, and an investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by Troopers M.T. McCoy and N.J. Bringer, is handling the case.
