Laurens County, SC (December 12, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Laurens County on Wednesday night left one person dead and four others injured. The incident occurred on I-26 East near mile marker 60. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a tractor-trailer had stopped on the highway, followed by a Toyota sedan and a Lincoln sedan. While the vehicles were stationary, a Chevy coupe was backing into the emergency lane when a freightliner collided with the Lincoln sedan, causing a chain reaction with the other vehicles.
The driver of the Lincoln sedan, 73-year-old Anthony White of Piedmont, was tragically killed in the crash. Three passengers from the Lincoln sedan, including a seven-year-old, were transported to the hospital via EMS and helicopter, suffering injuries. The driver of the Toyota sedan was also taken to the hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported in the pileup.
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased victim, and the crash is currently under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.
