Jefferson County, MO (December 12, 2024) – A vehicle accident with serious injuries occurred Thursday afternoon at Eastbound Missouri 30 and Bridgewood Dr in Jefferson County. The crash was reported at 3:15 p.m., leading to a quick response from emergency services.
According to the investigation by Trooper H.L. Rivera, the crash began when the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Azera (Vehicle #1), a 47-year-old female from Dittmer, MO, stopped for traffic ahead. The driver of a 2022 Jeep Compass (Vehicle #2), an 80-year-old female from Dittmer, MO, attempted to brake but then intentionally steered off the right side of the road to avoid hitting Vehicle #1. The left side of the Jeep struck a utility pole and a dirt pile before becoming airborne.
Emergency responders from Big River Ambulance District quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured parties. The driver of Vehicle #2 sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South for treatment. Fortunately, the driver of Vehicle #1 was unharmed and was able to drive the vehicle from the scene with only minor damage.
The crash caused significant damage to the Jeep, which had to be towed by Northwest Towing. The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing, but it appears that the driver of the Jeep made an evasive maneuver to avoid a collision, which led to the loss of control.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we extend our sympathies to her family as she receives medical care.
