Rock Island County, IL (December 9, 2024) – A fatal head-on collision occurred early Monday morning on Interstate 88 near mile marker 9, resulting in the death of one individual and minor injuries to another.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), the crash took place around 12:43 a.m. when a passenger vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-88 collided head-on with a semi-truck. The impact caused the passenger vehicle to catch fire. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver sustained only minor injuries.
