Orange Township, OH (December 5, 2024) – A fatal crash occurred early this morning on the southbound exit ramp of Interstate 75 to State Route 103, resulting in the death of 42-year-old Joshua Little from Wapakoneta. The Ohio State Patrol reported that Mr. Little’s vehicle had become disabled on the right shoulder, and as he walked up the ramp, he was struck by a 2016 Ford Edge driven by 64-year-old Michael Rahrig of Findlay. Despite the quick response from emergency responders, Mr. Little was pronounced dead at the scene. The ramp was closed for approximately one hour while authorities investigated the incident.

First responders from Bluffton Police Department, Bluffton EMS, and HANCO EMS arrived on the scene shortly after the incident occurred, assisting with the investigation and scene management. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing. No injuries were reported for Mr. Rahrig.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Little during this difficult time.

Fatal Accidents in Ohio

Fatal accidents on highways and exit ramps are always devastating, and this incident serves as a tragic reminder of the potential dangers faced by drivers and pedestrians alike. According to the Ohio State Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:22 a.m. as Mr. Little’s Chevrolet HHR became disabled while traveling southbound on I-75. After his vehicle was stopped on the shoulder, Mr. Little began walking up the exit ramp to State Route 103 when he was struck by Mr. Rahrig’s Ford Edge, who was exiting I-75 southbound.

Sadly, such accidents often occur when drivers are unable to see pedestrians or other vehicles due to poor visibility, speed, or road conditions. The incident also highlights the importance of safety measures when pulling over on the shoulder of highways or exit ramps. Drivers should always stay in their vehicles or use emergency roadside assistance when faced with a disabled vehicle, especially on busy highways.
