Phoenix, AZ (December 1, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred Friday evening in east Phoenix, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. Phoenix police responded to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian near 50th Street and McDowell Road at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, first responders found 36-year-old Edroy McCormick critically injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, McCormick later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities report that McCormick was crossing McDowell Road outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by the motorcycle. The motorcyclist initially left the scene but returned during the investigation.
Police have stated that impairment was not a factor in the collision, and no arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
