Callaway, MO (October 31, 2024) – A tragic traffic accident occurred on the evening of October 30, 2024, at approximately 9:42 p.m. on US 54 westbound at Route J. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a severe collision involving two vehicles.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 2014 Mazda CX-5, driven by 49-year-old Juli A. Harris from Holts Summit, was stationary in the westbound lanes of US 54 after being involved in a previous crash. A 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, operated by 61-year-old Hans E. Overton from Jefferson City, struck the Mazda. The impact resulted in both vehicles being deemed total losses and towed from the scene by Kendall’s Towing.
Tragically, Juli Harris sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Boone County Medical Examiner Stacey Huck at 9:58 p.m. Her next of kin has been notified. Hans Overton suffered injuries and was transported by Callaway EMS to Capital Region for medical evaluation and treatment.
