Washington County, MD (November 29, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Friday at approximately 12:15 p.m. at the 20900 block of Leitersburg Pike. The crash, which involved four vehicles, blocked the roadway and led to significant traffic delays in the area.
Units from Washington County, including CO9, RSQ13, and R79, were on the scene, along with Fire Police and other personnel. Despite efforts to clear the area, a request for CHART (Coordinated Highway Action Response Team) assistance was denied due to their involvement in other crashes on I-70. As a result, MD60 was closed until all four vehicles could be safely towed from the scene.
One patient, identified as a trauma victim, was transported to Meritus Medical Center for treatment. Fortunately, no further details about the victims’ conditions have been disclosed at this time.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and the scene is gradually being cleared. In the meantime, drivers are advised to expect residual delays and to follow traffic control instructions from Fire Police.
