Little Falls Twp, MN (November 29, 2024) – An injury accident occurred on Thursday, November 28, at approximately 10:59 AM at the intersection of Eastbound Highway 10 and Iris Rd in Morrison County. A Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 66-year-old Penelope Sue Sawdy from Elk River, was traveling westbound on Highway 10 when a Chrysler Town and Country minivan, driven by 36-year-old Marc Anthony Bjorn from Sartell, attempted to cross the westbound lanes of Highway 10 from Iris Rd. The minivan was attempting a left turn to head eastbound on the highway when the two vehicles collided.

Both vehicles came to rest in the center median following the crash. Emergency responders from Mayo Ambulance, as well as the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, were quick to the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Gabriel’s Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the driver and passenger of the Chrysler Town and Country, both wearing seat belts, were unharmed in the crash. The passenger, a 15-year-old female, did not require medical attention.

The road conditions at the time of the accident were not specified, though the investigation is believed to be complete. The Minnesota State Patrol continues to assess the circumstances surrounding the crash, but alcohol was not involved.

Our thoughts are with those affected by the accident, and we wish for a swift recovery for those injured.

Car Accidents in Minnesota

Minnesota has seen a number of injury crashes recently, with collisions involving vehicles turning across busy highways being a primary concern. These accidents can often occur when drivers misjudge the speed of oncoming traffic or fail to notice the vehicles in their path. In this case, both the driver and passenger in the Chrysler Town and Country were lucky to escape unharmed, thanks to their seat belts, while the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash highlights the importance of caution when turning onto busy highways, especially in areas with heavy traffic. Drivers are encouraged to remain vigilant and always ensure that they have ample time and space to make safe maneuvers.
