Decatur County, IN (November 29, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision claimed the life of an Indianapolis man early Wednesday morning on U.S. 421, near the Decatur/Ripley County line. The crash occurred around 7:00 AM when 47-year-old Joseph L. Arthur of Indianapolis crossed the centerline in his car, directly into the path of a northbound semi. Unfortunately, Arthur was pronounced dead at the scene by the Decatur County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash, but the investigation is still ongoing. U.S. 421 was closed for approximately five hours as investigators and cleanup crews worked at the scene.
