The incident occurred at 3:15 a.m. when Michael Rouse Jr. of Elizabeth, NJ, was crossing the South White Horse Pike (Route 30) at the intersection of Central Avenue. Rouse was hit by a westbound pickup truck in the truck’s lane of travel.
Despite the quick arrival of emergency personnel, Rouse was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 74-year-old man from Haddon Heights, stopped at the scene and has not been charged.
