Latah County, ID (November 26, 2024) – A tragic crash on Monday morning claimed the life of a 40-year-old man from Lewiston. The accident occurred around 10:38 AM on Highway 95 northbound at Eid Rd in Latah County, where traffic was stopped due to construction in the area.
According to Idaho State Police, the driver of a blue 2001 Ford Focus was traveling north on the highway when he encountered the stopped traffic. The vehicle swerved and struck the side of a white 2021 Chevrolet Silverado before veering off the road and plunging down an embankment.
Emergency responders from Moscow Fire/EMS and the Latah County Sheriff’s Office arrived swiftly to provide aid. The driver of the Ford Focus sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Reports indicate that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, a 65-year-old man also from Lewiston, was wearing a seatbelt and was unharmed. He remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators.
Highway 95 was closed for approximately three hours while emergency crews and investigators worked to document the scene and clear the area. The Idaho Transportation Department also assisted with the response. The next of kin for the deceased has been notified, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
