Multi-Vehicle Accidents on I-87
Interstate 87, a major route running through Raleigh, is often busy with both local and long-distance traffic. Accidents on this stretch of highway are not uncommon, especially involving speeding or heavy vehicles such as trucks towing trailers. In this case, the crash highlights the dangers of tailgating and speeding in areas where traffic flow may slow down, such as around interchanges and exits.
However, accidents like this serve as a reminder to drive carefully, especially when approaching slower-moving vehicles or complex interchanges like the I-440 exit.
The Raleigh Police Department is urging drivers to follow posted speed limits and remain aware of traffic conditions, particularly when driving near heavy trucks or areas with frequent traffic changes. The safety of all drivers is a shared responsibility, and remaining cautious can prevent incidents such as this from occurring.
