Fayetteville, NC (November 26, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to a serious vehicle crash early Tuesday morning at the intersection of NC Highway 24 and North Plymouth Street in Fayetteville. Upon arrival, first responders found an Infiniti passenger car severely damaged and off the road, with a tractor-trailer further down the highway. The driver of the automobile was ejected during the crash and sustained devastating injuries, including the loss of one hand and severe damage to the other arm.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the tractor-trailer, which was traveling east on NC Highway 24, ran a red light and collided with the passenger car. The driver of the auto was immediately transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital and later flown to a trauma center for further treatment.
The highway was closed for several hours between North Plymouth Street and Whitehead Road to allow for investigation and cleanup. Authorities from the Fayetteville Police Department and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are currently investigating the incident.
