Harnett County, NC (November 24, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision on North Carolina Highway 87 at Olivia Rd near Lillington claimed the life of a soldier stationed at Fort Liberty. The crash occurred at approximately 3:24 p.m. Saturday and involved a car crossing the center line into the path of a tractor-trailer.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision caused extensive damage, with debris and fluid spreading across all lanes of the highway. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the driver of the car, identified as the soldier, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not reported to be injured.
