Hancock County, OH (November 23, 2024) – A devastating two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two individuals and left another with minor injuries in Hancock County on Friday evening. The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Township Rd 190 and State Route 15, about 10 miles southeast of Findlay, at approximately 5:30 PM.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), Brian Post, 54, and Sonja Dodds-Post, 60, both of Findlay, were traveling northbound on Township Rd 190 in a minivan. As they entered the intersection with State Route 15, their vehicle was struck by a westbound pickup truck on the highway.

Tragically, Post was pronounced dead at the scene, while Dodds-Post was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. The driver of the pickup truck, a 29-year-old from Minnesota, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

OSHP reported that all individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts. The collision remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the precise cause of the accident.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of Brian Post and Sonja Dodds-Post during this difficult time and hope for the full recovery of the injured individual.

Fatal Car Accidents in Ohio

Ohio experiences a significant number of fatal car accidents each year, with rural intersections like Township Rd 190 and State Route 15 posing unique risks. Such locations often have fewer traffic controls, limited visibility, or high-speed limits, all of which can contribute to severe collisions.

In crashes involving fatalities, investigations typically focus on factors such as driver error, road conditions, and mechanical failures. While wearing seatbelts greatly reduces the risk of serious injury, accidents like this highlight the unpredictability and potential danger of rural highway intersections.

Local and state agencies, including OSHP, are committed to improving road safety through better signage, intersection redesigns, and public awareness campaigns to prevent future tragedies.

Families affected by fatal crashes often face overwhelming emotional and financial challenges, from funeral costs to ongoing investigations. It is crucial for victims and their families to seek the necessary support, including legal guidance, to navigate these difficult situations.
