Pipestone, MN (November 22, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision involving a Chevrolet Impala and a Freightliner semi occurred Thursday afternoon on Highway 23 near Milepost 32 in Pipestone, Pipestone County. Emergency responders, including Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office, Pipestone County EMS, and Pipestone Fire Department, quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.
The accident happened at approximately 12:31 p.m. when a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Impala collided with a northbound 2023 Freightliner semi. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet Impala, identified as 21-year-old Desire’e Anne Finke of Minneapolis, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Pipestone County Medical Center for treatment. Authorities noted alcohol involvement with the Impala’s driver. The Freightliner semi’s driver, Mark Allan Harmdierks, 51, of Huron, SD, was uninjured in the collision. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts, and airbags did not deploy in either vehicle.
