Newhall, CA (November 22, 2024) – A multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck, a U-Haul towing a trailer, and a white SUV occurred Friday morning on the southbound I-5 transition to SR-14 in Newhall. The crash, reported at approximately 7:54 a.m., resulted in injuries and significant traffic disruptions.
The U-Haul, which was towing a trailer carrying another vehicle, reportedly lost control and collided with a semi-truck and an SUV. The U-Haul ended up blocking lanes #2 and #3, while the semi-truck pulled over to the right shoulder. Emergency responders, including fire crews, worked to extract the driver from one of the vehicles.
One individual was reported screaming for help and searching for a pet inside the vehicle. Authorities issued a traffic advisory for lanes #1, #2, and #3, which were blocked for over two hours while crews worked to clear the debris and vehicles from the scene.
Tow trucks were dispatched to remove the U-Haul and its trailer, as well as the other damaged vehicles. By 9:02 a.m., lanes #1 and #2 were reopened, with lane #3 remaining closed for debris removal. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
