St. Charles, MO (November 21, 2024) – A serious vehicle collision occurred early Wednesday morning on eastbound MO 370, just west of Elm St. The crash, reported at approximately 3:50 AM, involved a 2023 Subaru Impreza and a 2018 Freightliner M2.

Emergency responders, including the St. Charles County Ambulance District, quickly arrived at the scene to provide aid. The driver of the Subaru, a 24-year-old male from Herculaneum, MO, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for further treatment. The driver of the Freightliner, a 69-year-old male from Maryland Heights, MO, was unharmed and did not require medical attention.

The Subaru was heavily damaged and towed from the scene by Cardinal Towing, while the Freightliner sustained moderate damage and was driven away. The Subaru failed to maintain a proper lookout and collided with the rear of the Freightliner.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine any contributing factors. The crash caused temporary disruptions on MO 370 as crews worked to clear the scene.

Trucking Accidents in Missouri

Missouri highways, like MO 370 in St. Charles County, are frequented by a mix of commercial trucks and passenger vehicles, making collisions involving larger vehicles a persistent safety concern. Incidents like the one on November 20th highlight the potential dangers of reentering traffic and the importance of vigilance for all road users.

Truck accidents often lead to severe injuries due to the significant size and weight differences between commercial trucks and passenger cars. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution around larger vehicles, particularly when navigating high-traffic zones or reentering roadways. Proper lookout, safe following distances, and awareness of traffic patterns are critical to preventing accidents.

St. Charles County sees substantial traffic from its location near major highways, which increases the likelihood of incidents. In the event of a crash, timely medical care and a thorough understanding of legal rights are crucial for victims.
