Salem, IL (November 21, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash on Selmaville Rd near the Red Stripe Rd intersection southwest of Salem resulted in injuries late Tuesday afternoon. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department responded to the collision, which occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m.
According to authorities, 36-year-old Brittany Hughes of Lamar Dr in Salem was driving an SUV when she failed to slow down for traffic in front of her, leading to a collision with another SUV driven by 28-year-old Robert Dodson of Elm St in Salem.
Hughes sustained injuries and was transported to Salem Township Hospital for treatment. Dodson, however, declined medical assistance at the scene.
Following the crash, Hughes was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Dodson was also issued citations for driving on a suspended license and having no insurance.
