Alamosa, CO (November 21, 2024) – A school bus carrying 14 students was involved in a collision Thursday morning at the intersection of W Ave and 8th St in Alamosa. The crash, which was reported just after 7:30 AM, left multiple children with minor injuries.
According to a statement from the Alamosa Police Department, the school bus, driven by 69-year-old Dennis Pacheco of Alamosa, collided with a black Ford Edge. Witnesses at the scene reported that the bus failed to yield the right of way while turning, leading to the collision with the vehicle driven by Stevie Hostetter, also of Alamosa.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to assist the injured. Four students and the bus driver were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. The intersection remained closed until approximately 8:30 AM as police conducted their investigation and crews cleared the scene.
Authorities confirmed that Dennis Pacheco was cited for Careless Driving Causing Injury. The students were on their way to Alamosa Elementary School when the crash occurred.
