Provo, UT (November 20, 2024) – Several people sustained injuries Tuesday afternoon when a pickup truck collided with an ambulance transporting a patient in Provo. The crash occurred at approximately 2:45 PM at the intersection of Cougar Blvd and Freedom Blvd, according to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP).
Officials reported that a Provo Fire & Rescue ambulance, with its emergency equipment activated, was traveling west on Cougar Blvd toward the hospital. At the intersection, most vehicles yielded to the ambulance, except for a southbound Toyota Tacoma that failed to stop. The Tacoma struck the front passenger side of the ambulance, causing it to veer into a pole in the raised center median.
Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist the injured. The patient inside the ambulance, as well as other individuals involved, were transported for medical care. The severity of their injuries has not been disclosed. UHP is leading the investigation due to the involvement of a Provo City vehicle.
