Ann Arbor, MI (November 20, 2024) – A serious multi-vehicle collision involving a semitrailer carrying steel coils occurred Monday evening on westbound I-94 near Stone School Rd. The crash, reported around 5:40 p.m., resulted in one person suffering serious injuries and required emergency crews to utilize the Jaws of Life to perform an extrication.
According to Mike Kennedy, Chief of the Ann Arbor Fire Department, the semitrailer involved in the crash slipped off the roadway and overturned. Fortunately, the steel coils on the truck remained secure and did not cause additional damage. Firefighters noted that the truck came to rest approximately 50 yards from nearby homes, separated by a tree line, averting further tragedy.

The crash prompted closures of both directions of I-94 starting around 6:00 p.m. By 8:00 p.m., all lanes except one had reopened, and the freeway was fully cleared around 11:00 p.m. The Pittsfield Township Fire Department assisted Ann Arbor fire crews during the response.
