Refugio, TX (November 20, 2024) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash involving two 18-wheelers and six additional vehicles occurred early Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old man from Houston. The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on US 77, just north of Refugio.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), an 18-wheeler had stopped in the inside southbound lane following a collision with another 18-wheeler and several other vehicles. Michael Ngo, driving a 2018 Nissan box truck, failed to control its speed and struck the rear of the stopped 18-wheeler. Ngo was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is under investigation by DPS Troopers from the Refugio County Highway Patrol Office. No additional details about injuries to other drivers or passengers have been released at this time.
