Allendale Township, MI (November 19, 2024) – A multi-vehicle collision occurred Monday afternoon on Lake Michigan Dr at 60th Ave in Allendale Township, leaving two individuals injured. The crash, reported at approximately 4:37 p.m., involved a chain reaction of impacts after one driver pulled out in front of another.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies, the incident began when a 21-year-old woman from Okemos, driving a Ford Edge, attempted to turn westbound onto Lake Michigan Dr from 60th Ave. She turned into the path of a Chevy Silverado driven by a 48-year-old Coopersville man. The Silverado struck the Ford despite efforts by its driver to avoid the collision.
The force of the impact caused the Silverado to lose control and cross the median into eastbound traffic, where it collided with a Toyota Tundra driven by a 65-year-old Zeeland man. The Tundra then struck another vehicle in the adjacent lane.
The Zeeland man and his 71-year-old female passenger sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported among the involved parties.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities. Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted as crews worked to clear the scene and assess the vehicles.
Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we hope for their swift and complete recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Michigan
Chain-reaction crashes like the one in Allendale Township highlight the dangers of turning into oncoming traffic without clear visibility or timing. These types of accidents are especially common on busy roadways like Lake Michigan Dr, where high traffic volumes and multi-lane intersections increase the likelihood of collisions.
Michigan law requires drivers to yield the right-of-way when turning and to exercise caution to prevent potential accidents. Failure to do so can lead to devastating consequences, particularly when vehicles lose control and enter opposing traffic lanes.
Victims of multi-vehicle accidents often face significant challenges, including medical treatment, vehicle damage, and navigating insurance claims. Accessing the right resources is critical for recovering physically, emotionally, and financially.
