Thomasville, NC (November 19, 2024) – A pedestrian was tragically killed in a collision Friday evening on National Highway at Fairway Avenue. The crash occurred around 7:19 PM and involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, according to the Thomasville Police Department.
Authorities report that a Lincoln traveling south on National Highway was approaching the intersection of Fairway Avenue when the pedestrian, identified as Michael Baker, 66, attempted to cross the roadway. Baker walked into the path of the Lincoln, and the driver was unable to avoid the collision.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but tragically, Baker succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that the driver of the Lincoln was uninjured in the incident.
