Preventing Intersection Accidents in Missouri
Intersection accidents, such as the one on MO-162 in Gideon, are a common source of injuries and property damage on Missouri’s roadways. These collisions often result from drivers failing to yield or misjudging the speed and distance of oncoming vehicles, particularly in rural or less congested areas.
Missouri’s road safety agencies emphasize the importance of defensive driving, particularly when crossing or merging onto highways. Taking the time to check for oncoming traffic and ensuring sufficient clearance can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.
Drivers should also remain alert to the actions of others, anticipating potential hazards and reacting calmly. Education campaigns and enforcement of right-of-way laws are essential tools in minimizing the frequency of these incidents.
