Franklin, MO (November 18, 2024) – Emergency responders were dispatched to a significant three-vehicle collision on southbound Missouri 47 near Clearview Rd on Friday evening. The crash, reported at approximately 5:30 PM, left multiple individuals injured, with varying levels of severity.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that the incident involved a 2019 Kia Sportage, a 2011 Toyota 4Runner, and a 2019 Ford Expedition. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Kia Sportage, driven by a 39-year-old woman from St. Clair, MO, failed to notice stopped traffic ahead due to distraction. The Sportage collided with the rear of the Toyota 4Runner, which was subsequently pushed into the Ford Expedition. The Kia ultimately veered off the roadway to the right.
The Toyota 4Runner, driven by a 54-year-old man from Washington, MO, sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Strum’s Towing. The Kia Sportage also sustained total damage and was removed by the same towing service. The Ford Expedition, which incurred moderate damage, was driven from the scene.
Emergency responders from the Union Ambulance District transported four individuals to Mercy Washington for medical care. The injured included the 54-year-old male driver of the Toyota 4Runner and three of its occupants: a 50-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman, and an 18-year-old man. Injuries ranged from minor to moderate. Thankfully, all involved were reported to have been wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Missouri 47 was partially obstructed as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the circumstances. Troopers, assisted by CPL. M. Hedlund (255), continue to look into the cause of the crash and determine any additional factors involved.
