Logan County, OH (November 17, 2024) – Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on US-33 near milepost 3 in Stokes Township on Friday, November 15, at approximately 2:00 PM. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2009 Kenworth semi truck had come to a stop on the roadway due to a previous crash. A 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by a 70-year-old man, was traveling southeast on US-33 when the driver failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the semi-truck.
First responders, including emergency medical crews, quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured driver of the Hyundai. The driver of the Hyundai sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for further treatment. Thankfully, the driver of the semi-truck did not report any injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and all occupants involved were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
