Winter Haven, FL (November 17, 2024) – A tragic crash occurred Friday evening, resulting in the death of a Winter Haven man. At approximately 6:00 p.m., a 46-year-old man was driving a Honda CRV westbound on Dundee Rd when he attempted to make a left turn onto Overlook Dr. The driver was attempting to turn while the traffic signal showed a yellow flashing arrow, which allowed for left turns.
As the Honda CRV made the turn, it collided with a Dodge Ram 3500 truck driven by a 28-year-old man from Lake Wales. The truck, which was traveling east on Dundee Rd under a green light, struck the Honda’s passenger side. The impact was significant, propelling the Honda approximately 150 feet east of the intersection.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries, though the extent of those injuries has not been disclosed. Unfortunately, the driver of the Honda, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, suffered critical injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the cause of the accident, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
